How It Works
1. Send
Email your PDFs and the name and mailing address of each person or attorney to be served.
2. We mail
We print, package and mail the documents through the U.S. Postal Service and record the date of mailing.
3. Proof of Service
We complete the Proof of Service by Mail and email it to you for your records or filing.
When Service by Mail Applies
Mail is commonly used for papers served after a case is underway, such as motions, discovery and notices, on parties or attorneys who have already appeared.
Good to know
- Mail is usually not a substitute for personal service of a summons and complaint. Those typically need to be served in person, or through a notice and acknowledgment process that depends on the recipient signing and returning a form.
- Mailing can add extra days to response deadlines, and the rules vary by court and case type.
